Tentang Jurnal Ini
VOID is a peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to the advancement of architecture and the built environment through studies on vernacular values, open space, innovation, and design.
Journal Overview
Journal of Vernacular, Open Space, Innovation, and Design (VOID) is a scholarly journal that publishes original research articles, conceptual studies, design-based studies, case studies, and critical reviews in the field of architecture and the built environment. The journal provides an academic platform for researchers, lecturers, practitioners, postgraduate students, and professionals to disseminate knowledge related to spatial studies, architectural design, local wisdom, sustainability, and innovation.
The name VOID reflects both an architectural concept and a scholarly mission. In architecture, a void refers to empty space, spatial gaps, or intervals within buildings and environments. In academic publishing, VOID represents knowledge gaps that can be explored, questioned, and filled through rigorous, contextual, and original research.
Aims
VOID aims to strengthen scholarly discourse in architecture by promoting research that connects local knowledge, spatial quality, design thinking, technological innovation, environmental responsiveness, and cultural identity in the built environment.
Scope
The journal focuses on architecture, vernacular studies, open space, urban design, housing and settlement, interior design, building science, heritage, tropical architecture, sustainable design, disaster-responsive architecture, and digital architecture.
Focus and Scope
All submitted manuscripts undergo an editorial screening process and peer review to ensure academic quality, originality, relevance, and contribution to the field.
VOID is published twice a year, in April and November.
VOID was established in 2026 as a platform for architectural and built environment scholarship.
VOID supports the dissemination of scholarly works that contribute to architectural knowledge, local wisdom, spatial innovation, and design research in Indonesia and beyond.
