Abstract

The objective of this study was to produce a numeracy assessment based on the Matamusan ethnomathematics tradition of the Tetun people in Malaka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), that is valid, reliable, and practical for teachers to use in fostering students' numeracy skills. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model, which comprises the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data collection instruments included interviews as well as validation and practicality questionnaires; the assessment instrument was validated by expert validators, while practicality was assessed by teacher practitioners and students. Validity testing by the validator team yielded an average score of 0.93, and reliability testing resulted in a score of 97.13%. Practicality tests administered to teachers demonstrated that the assessment was highly practical, with a score of 88; similarly, tests administered to students indicated a high level of practicality, with an average score of 90.51%. Thus, the developed Matamusan Ethnomathematics-Based Numeracy Assessment proved to be valid, reliable, and highly practical, making it suitable for implementation to enhance students' numeracy skills
