The inaugural edition of LECTURE presents a variety of scholarly articles in linguistics and language education in Indonesia. The five featured articles highlight the richness of local languages and the contextual practices of teaching and communication. Two articles discuss the phenomenon of code mixing: one in the Fatufeto community of Kupang, and the other in Sunday church preaching, shedding light on social and religious language dynamics. Another article examines writing elements in essays written by third-semester students, with the aim of improving academic writing instruction. The remaining two articles contribute to local language documentation: one analyzes causative clauses in the Wewewa language, and the other explores compound words in the Bilba dialect of Rotenese, emphasizing the importance of preserving regional languages. Overall, this issue reflects the journal’s mission to bridge theory and practice in linguistics, and to provide a platform for academic work in linguistics, education, culture, and literature.
