Conflict of Interest Policy
JUKANTI (Jurnal Pendidikan Teknologi Informasi) is committed to maintaining fairness, transparency, objectivity, and integrity in the editorial and publication process. All authors, editors, reviewers, and editorial staff must disclose any potential conflict of interest that may influence, or appear to influence, the submission, review, editorial decision, or publication of a manuscript.
Definition of Conflict of Interest
A conflict of interest may occur when personal, academic, financial, institutional, professional, or other relationships could influence the objectivity, integrity, or judgment of individuals involved in the publication process.
Conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to:
- financial interests, funding, sponsorship, or paid consultancy;
- personal relationships, family relationships, or close professional relationships;
- academic competition or collaboration;
- institutional affiliation or employment relationship;
- involvement in the same research project;
- previous or ongoing disputes with authors, editors, or reviewers;
- any other condition that may affect impartial judgment.
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors must disclose any potential conflict of interest that may affect the research, interpretation of findings, or publication of the manuscript.
Authors should disclose:
- sources of funding or financial support;
- institutional or organizational support;
- personal or professional relationships that may influence the research;
- any competing interests related to the topic, method, data, or findings.
If there is no conflict of interest, authors should include a statement such as:
The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest.
Responsibilities of Editors
Editors must handle manuscripts objectively and fairly. Editors must not handle manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest.
Editors should decline or transfer manuscript handling when:
- the manuscript is submitted by a close colleague, student, supervisor, or family member;
- the editor has collaborated with the author recently;
- the editor has a financial, institutional, academic, or personal interest in the manuscript;
- the editor’s objectivity may reasonably be questioned.
In such cases, the manuscript should be assigned to another qualified editor.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers must disclose any potential conflict of interest before accepting a review assignment.
Reviewers should decline the review if:
- they have a personal, academic, financial, or institutional relationship with the author;
- they have recently collaborated with the author;
- they are directly competing with the author;
- they cannot provide an objective and unbiased review;
- the manuscript is outside their expertise.
Editorial Decision
Conflict of interest disclosures will be considered by the editorial team when assigning editors, selecting reviewers, and making editorial decisions.
The existence of a conflict of interest does not automatically imply misconduct. However, undisclosed conflicts of interest may result in editorial action, including reassignment of editors or reviewers, request for clarification, publication of correction, or further investigation.
Published Articles
If a conflict of interest is identified after publication, JUKANTI may publish a correction, expression of concern, or retraction depending on the seriousness and impact of the undisclosed conflict.
Final Statement
JUKANTI is committed to ensuring that all editorial decisions are made based on academic quality, originality, relevance, ethical compliance, and the integrity of the peer-review process, not on personal, financial, institutional, or other competing interests.
