Author Guidelines
Journal of Innovative Technologies in Learning and Education (J-ITLE)
The Journal of Innovative Technologies in Learning and Education (J-ITLE) welcomes high-quality manuscripts that are aligned with the journal’s focus and scope. These author guidelines provide information on manuscript preparation, submission requirements, ethical compliance, peer-review process, publication fees, copyright, and licensing.
Authors are strongly encouraged to read these guidelines carefully before submitting a manuscript through the journal’s Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.
1. Scope and Types of Papers
J-ITLE publishes scholarly works in the field of innovative technologies in learning and education. The journal welcomes the following types of manuscripts:
- Original Research Articles;
- Review Papers;
- Case Studies;
- Technical Reports.
Fields covered by J-ITLE include, but are not limited to:
- Digital learning tools;
- E-learning and online education;
- Virtual, augmented, and mixed reality in education;
- Artificial intelligence in education;
- Blended learning models;
- Gamification and game-based learning in education;
- Educational data analytics and learning analytics;
- Mobile learning;
- Technology-enhanced assessment;
- Digital literacy and digital citizenship;
- Teacher professional development in educational technology;
- Teacher professional competence;
- Ethics, privacy, accessibility, and equity in educational technology;
- STEM education and technology-enhanced learning;
- Collaborative learning technologies;
- Innovation in curriculum design;
- Educational platforms and learning management systems;
- Android-based learning media;
- Social media in education;
- Online teaching strategies.
2. Language and Submission Format
All manuscripts submitted to J-ITLE must be written in English.
- Language: English;
- File format: Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx);
- Manuscript length: Approximately 5,000–8,000 words, including references, tables, and figures;
- Submission system: Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s OJS platform.
Authors should use the official J-ITLE article template when preparing their manuscripts.

3. Manuscript Structure
Manuscripts should generally follow the structure below:
- Title: Clear, concise, and informative;
- Author names and affiliations: Full names, institutional affiliations, countries, and email addresses of all authors;
- Corresponding author: Clearly indicate the corresponding author responsible for communication with the journal;
- Abstract: 150–250 words, written in one paragraph, summarizing the research objectives, methods, key findings, and conclusions;
- Keywords: 4–6 keywords separated by commas;
- Introduction: Background, research problem, objectives, and relevant literature gap;
- Literature Review: Review of relevant studies, theories, concepts, and research gaps;
- Methodology: Research design, participants or data sources, instruments, procedures, and data analysis methods;
- Results: Clear presentation of research findings using text, tables, and figures where appropriate;
- Discussion: Interpretation of findings, relation to previous studies, implications, limitations, and suggestions for future research;
- Conclusion: Summary of key findings, implications, and recommendations;
- References: References must follow APA 7th edition style and include only sources cited in the manuscript.
4. Formatting Guidelines
Authors must prepare manuscripts according to the official J-ITLE article template. The general formatting requirements are as follows:
- Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt;
- Line spacing: 1.15;
- Margins: 1 inch or 2.54 cm on all sides;
- Text alignment: Fully justified;
- Headings: Use a clear and consistent heading structure;
- Tables and figures: Numbered consecutively, titled clearly, cited in the text, and placed close to the relevant discussion;
- References: Follow APA 7th edition style.
5. Citation and Reference Style
J-ITLE uses the APA 7th edition citation and reference style. Authors must ensure that all in-text citations appear in the reference list and that all references are cited in the manuscript.

Journal article:
Smith, J., & Jones, B. (2020). Title of the article. Journal Name, 10(2), 100–110. https://doi.org/xxxxx
Book:
Brown, L. (2018). Book title (3rd ed.). Publisher.
Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote to ensure citation accuracy and consistency.
6. Ethical and Legal Compliance
All manuscripts submitted to J-ITLE must comply with the journal’s publication ethics and plagiarism policy.
Authors must ensure that:
- The manuscript is original, unpublished, and not under consideration by another journal or publisher;
- The manuscript does not contain plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation;
- All sources, ideas, data, figures, tables, instruments, and other materials are properly cited and acknowledged;
- All listed authors have made significant scholarly contributions and have approved the final version of the manuscript;
- Any conflicts of interest are disclosed clearly;
- All funding sources, sponsorship, or institutional support are acknowledged where applicable;
- Ethical approval, institutional permission, or informed consent is provided where required, especially for studies involving human participants, students, teachers, schools, institutions, personal data, surveys, interviews, observations, experiments, or learning analytics data.
All submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism or similarity checking tools before or during the editorial review process. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 20%, excluding references and bibliography, may be returned to authors for revision or rejected, depending on the nature and extent of the similarity. The editorial team may also reject a manuscript with a similarity index below 20% if substantial plagiarism or unethical reuse is detected.

7. Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to J-ITLE undergo editorial screening and peer review before publication.
- Review model: Double-blind peer review;
- Reviewers: At least two independent reviewers may be assigned to each manuscript that passes initial screening;
- Initial screening: The editorial team checks manuscript suitability, scope, formatting, metadata completeness, similarity, and basic ethical compliance;
- Review decision: Editorial decisions are based on reviewer recommendations, manuscript quality, originality, methodological soundness, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal’s focus and scope.
The estimated editorial and review process may take up to approximately two months, depending on manuscript quality, reviewer availability, revision requirements, and editorial considerations.
Possible editorial decisions include:
- Accept submission;
- Revisions required;
- Resubmit for review;
- Decline submission.

8. Article Publication Charges and Other Author Fees
J-ITLE does not charge article submission fees, article processing charges, publication fees, peer-review fees, editorial processing fees, copyediting fees, layout editing fees, proofreading fees, DOI registration fees, hosting fees, or any other author-side charges.
All publication processes in J-ITLE are free of charge for authors.
9. Open Access, Copyright, and Licensing
J-ITLE is a fully open access journal. All published articles are freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication, without subscription, embargo period, or registration requirement.
Authors retain copyright of their published articles without restriction. By submitting and publishing their work in J-ITLE, authors grant the journal the right of first publication and agree that their articles will be published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
Under the CC BY 4.0 license, users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to the full texts of articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, remix, transform, and build upon the material for any lawful purpose, provided that proper attribution is given to the original author(s) and source.

10. Publication Schedule
J-ITLE is published twice a year, in January and September. Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis through the journal’s OJS platform.
11. Submission Checklist
Before submitting a manuscript, authors should ensure that:
- The manuscript is written in English;
- The manuscript follows the official J-ITLE article template;
- The manuscript falls within the journal’s focus and scope;
- The manuscript is original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere;
- The abstract is 150–250 words;
- The manuscript includes 4–6 keywords;
- All author names, affiliations, countries, and email addresses are complete and accurate;
- The corresponding author is clearly identified;
- All tables and figures are numbered, titled, and cited in the text;
- All in-text citations appear in the reference list;
- All references follow APA 7th edition style;
- Funding information and conflict of interest statements are included where applicable;
- Ethical approval, research permission, or informed consent is included where required;
- The manuscript has been checked for similarity or plagiarism before submission.
